Hi. I'm Stephanie and I had a medication abortion in Texas in 2020.

I found out I was pregnant when I had a positive pregnancy test, and my first thought was "Oh my God… FINALLY!” I decided to have a medication abortion because in the previous 30 days my pregnancy only progressed 3 and there were no fetal heart tones.

I received my abortion pills at a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was private, hard, necessary. I took the pills at home, and I felt devastated but couldn't imagine not having that private time to grieve and process. What surprised me most was how quick and relatively painless it was.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to live. I felt anger, grief, but relieved that what could be fatal was treated with 2 pills.

I'm sharing my story because we need to normalize abortion.
