Hi, My Name Is Ash.
Hi. I'm Ash, and I had a medication abortion in Canada in 2018.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed a period, and my first thought was "I’m so not ready for this." I decided to have a medication abortion because I was not in a position to raise and support a child. I was in a new relationship, and we were not yet in a position to be making a decision to have a child.
I received my abortion pills from a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was easy, relaxing, and dignifying. I took the pills at home in the bath with my first-ever bath bomb, and I felt at ease. What surprised me most was how simple and not scary the process was.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to go on to finish my university degree. I am now attending teacher’s college. My relationship with the person from whom I got pregnant has continued to grow and flourish. I felt like I had rightful control over my body.
I'm sharing my story because nobody should be forced to carry a pregnancy they do not wish to.
Medication abortion is life-saving healthcare.
