Hi, My Name Is Bobbie.

Hi. I'm Bobbie and I had a medication abortion in Colorado in 2008.

I found out I was pregnant when I was a little late, and my first thought was, "I'm pregnant!” I was excited about this second baby, but soon after, I began to cramp. I called my Dr. and she sent me to the ER, where I learned I had a life threatening ectopic pregnancy and needed to be admitted to the hospital and receive a medical abortion, and there was a chance of needing life-saving surgery if the medication did not work faster than my tube was rupturing. I decided to have a medication abortion because I received two medications to end the pregnancy, and thankfully for me I did not need surgery.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was scary but necessary. I took the pills at the hospital , and I felt trusting of my doctors and the medicine. What surprised me most was how quickly it worked.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to save my life and keep my tubes. I felt grief at first, but grateful such life-saving medicine was available to my generation, where I would have died an excruciatingly painful death in the not too distant past!

I'm sharing my story because all women deserve access to safe, low cost, medication abortions, whether by choice or necessity.

Medication abortion is healthcare!
