Hi, My Name is Elizabeth.
Hi. I'm Elizabeth and I had a medication abortion in Washington, in 2025.
I found out I was pregnant when I started feeling nauseous and my period was late, and my first thought was, "Oh my god, I can't be pregnant."
I decided to have a medication abortion because I was in the process of ending a very unhealthy relationship with the person who got me pregnant, I was struggling with severe depression and anxiety that were making it difficult to function, and I already had two children whom I needed to devote my energy toward.
I got my abortion pills by mail.
From start to finish, the process was private and empowering. I took the pills at home, and I felt scared and lonely, but ultimately so relieved. What surprised me most was how quickly the nausea and overwhelming exhaustion of pregnancy eased.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to end an unhealthy relationship without my ex-partner forcing me to continue the pregnancy and remain in his life. I felt relieved and empowered, knowing I took control of my life back and did it by myself.
I'm sharing my story because everyone should have access to the same resources, choices, and freedom that I had.
Medication abortion gave me the power to decide my own future.
