Hi, My Name Is Emily.
Hi. I'm Emily, and I had a medication abortion in MA, in 2025.
I found out I was pregnant when I was four months post partum, and my first thought was: "Is this really happening?"
I decided to have a medication abortion because of the associated health risks (uterine rupture) with having another C-section. Because I was mentally still struggling with postpartum mental health and not ready to go through another pregnancy. Because my son deserves to have a mom who is mentally and physically present and healthy!
I got my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was straightforward, empowering, and clear. I took the pills at home, and I felt mild discomfort, no worse than my period.
What surprised me most was how empowered I felt to make the best choice for myself and my family.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to be the best mom to my infant. I felt so sure that this was the best choice for my young family.
I'm sharing my story because Reproductive Rights are human rights. I was able to protect my health, my family’s well-being, and my son’s childhood by making the choice that made sense for us. No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term!
Medication abortion is an easy, safe healthcare option that all should have access to!
