Hi, My Name is Kay.
Hi. I'm Kay, and I had a medication abortion in Colorado in 2022.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period, and my first thought was Horror. I've always wanted kids, but I realized in that moment I was with an abusive partner who would keep me under control for the rest of my life if I had that baby. I decided to have a medication abortion because I wanted a better life for my kid with a dad who is safe. I didn't want that life for them or myself any longer.
I received my abortion pills via telehealth.
From start to finish, the process was easy and supportive. I took the pills at home, and I felt the pain was a bad period, but mentally, having an abortion within the same month, so many people were stripped of the right to have one (when Roe v. Wade was first overturned), it was quite an emotional roller coaster. What surprised me most was how fast it was over; I felt normal within a few days.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to move on from a bad situation in life and set myself up to have the family I've always wanted instead of one I was forced to have. I felt so much relief for myself and the potential child that didn't have to experience the hardships that were ahead of them.
I'm sharing my story because no one should be forced into a pregnancy, no one should have control of their own bodies taken away, and no MAN should be able to vote on the rights of a woman and their body.
Medication abortion has saved me. I'm in a place I never would have been able to imagine 4 years ago because I had the ability to have an abortion
