Hi, My Name Is Lily.
Hi. I'm Lily, and I had a medication abortion in Alaska in 2017.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my first period, and my first thought was "Something was wrong, I was anxious." I decided to have a medication abortion because I did not want to provide a reason for an abusive partner to remain tethered to my life. They would’ve used the child as a tool of control, and none of us would’ve led a happy life.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was very easy and private. I took the pills at the first one in the clinic and the second one at home, and I felt relieved and free. What surprised me most was how quickly it passed.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have a career and break free from an abusive relationship. I felt that my self-worth was restored, and I felt free.
I'm sharing my story because no one should have to feel like they don’t have control over their health’s future because of politics.
Medication abortion is NORMAL.
