Hi, My Name is Lizzy.
Hi. I'm Lizzy, and I had a medication abortion in Illinois in 2022.
I found out I was pregnant when I noticed physical signs that might indicate pregnancy, and my first thought was: "I can not have a child at this time in my life."
I decided to have a medication abortion because I wanted to feel as comfortable as possible in my own home with my partner there.
I got my abortion pills through telehealth.
From start to finish, the process was liberating. I took the pills at home, and I felt that my future was my own again. What surprised me most was It was simple, and I felt no stigma.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to continue with my career, pay off my student loans, and determine the trajectory of my life. I felt A new sense of purpose and conviction that I would do everything in my power to help anyone seeking an abortion to get one.
I'm sharing my story because my aunt had to cross a picket line in Alabama to get her life-saving abortion. 30 years later, I was able to have an abortion safely and without harassment. It is a personal decision, and no one should have to justify their right to make the best choice for their future simply because a politician or Sam Alito decides otherwise.
Medication abortion gave me back my future.
