Hi, My Name Is Rose.
Hi. I'm Rose and I had a medication abortion in Pennsylvania in 2024.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period, and my first thought was, "Oh shit, what should I do? My partner and I aren’t ready.” I decided to have a medication abortion because the cons outweighed the pros. My child deserves a stable, welcoming environment. I live with my parent on a small income. My partner and I are saving up for a place, and currently don’t live together. The pros on the list were having a baby to appease older family members, nothing serving myself or future family long term. There were too many ‘no’s’ for a life changing decision.
I received my abortion pills through telehealth.
From start to finish, the process was easy and secure. I took the pills at home, in bed, and I felt a range of sadness and guilt. The pain was like a persistent period, only intensifying when passing the clot. I felt drained and exhausted. What surprised me most was my relief. A weight that formed over the course of several days vanished after the procedure. I chose myself and had a surge of adventure and wonder for all the things I wanted to do. It inspired me to live a life I would be proud of sharing with my future children.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to live my life the way I wanted, slowly and intentionally. I felt freedom, control and relief.
I'm sharing my story because everyone deserves the right to choose their path in life and define it in their own way. I got to choose, and others should also have that same ability.
Medication abortion is life-saving and a necessity.
