Hi. I'm Alexandra and I had a medication abortion in Oregon in 2010.

I found out I was pregnant when I was in the middle of midterm exams, and my first thought was, "I need to figure this out now.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I truly examined my life and my future and knew it was not the right time for me. It was early on in the first trimester and I felt a deep knowing that it was the right thing to do.

I received my abortion pills from a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was easy, and difficult, and simple. I took the pills at home, and I felt relief and pain but nothing worse or better than a bad period. What surprised me most was how clearly I knew it was the right thing for me.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to be in charge of when and how I became a mother, as well as pursue my other dreams. I felt that I trust myself.

I'm sharing my story because every person should be in charge of their own body and reproduction.
