Hi, My Name Is Amanda.
Hi. I'm Amanda and I had a medication abortion in Colorado in 2024.
I found out I was pregnant when my period was late and I went in for a mammogram and they asked me to test before proceeding, and my first thought was so surprised and so happy. I decided to have a medication abortion because my first OB appt. showed it was going to be a miscarriage. There was no heartbeat, the baby stopped growing at six weeks but my body was not passing it.
I received my abortion pills through an organization.
From start to finish, the process was emotionally difficult but necessary. I took the pills at home the morning before my surgery. My husband held me while I cried, and I felt some discomfort as the process began to work. What surprised me most was because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have a D&C. I felt devastated but also grateful I live in a state where I had access to this necessary healthcare.
Iām sharing my story because access to this healthcare is a human right and it's beyond evil that rights differ based on geography.
Medication abortion is NECESSARY.
