Hi, My Name Is Betsy.
Hi. I'm Betsy and I had a medication abortion in California in 2010.
I found out I was pregnant when I took a pregnancy test, and my first thought was elated. I wanted a baby. I decided to have a medication abortion because I experienced a missed miscarriage and opted to take this route in order to end the pregnancy comfortably at home with my sisters around me.
I received my medication abortion pills through an organization.
From start to finish, the process was tender, holy, and private. I took the pills at home, and I felt grief, relief, and support. What surprised me most was how holy it felt surrounded by my women.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to avoid further medical complications that could have resulted in my inability to have two other children afterwards. I felt relief, comfort, and compassion.
I'm sharing my story because no one should make a decision about a woman’s body but herself and her doctor.
Medication abortion is necessary healthcare.
