Hi, My Name Is Cae.
Hi. I'm Cae, and I had a medication abortion in Michigan in 2021.
I found out I was pregnant when I was horribly nauseous for more than a week before I missed my period, and my first thought was: "Not now!” I decided to have a medication abortion because I wanted to complete my doctoral degree before having a child.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was easy, supportive, and private. I took the pills at home, and I felt anxious but confident in the process--I had worked in abortion care for over 10 years. What surprised me most was how supportive everyone was--they all wanted me to complete my PhD too.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to complete my doctorate and go on to get an outstanding job in my dream location. I felt like part of what so many women over generations had experienced.
I'm sharing my story because abortion is necessary. It is healthcare. It is normal. And it should be accessible.
Medication abortion is life-saving.
