Hi, My Name Is Vik.
Hi. I'm Vik, and I had a medication abortion in England in 2015.
I found out I was pregnant when I took a test, and my first thoughts were happy, excited, and nervous. I decided to have a medication abortion because I started having some pain at 11 weeks, and then I found out my baby had passed away at 7 weeks, but my body hadn't realised.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was sad, empowering, and simple. I took the pills at home, on my sofa. I felt very emotional as I had wanted my baby, but glad that I had the option to choose to prevent infection or a haemorrhage at home, which I had had with my previous miscarriage. What surprised me most was how soon I felt physically better and could think about trying again.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have my beautiful daughter. I felt relieved, free, and in control.
I'm sharing my story because I need people to understand that mifepristone has lots of uses and helps people who want to be pregnant too.
Medication abortion is normal, life-saving, and helped my body recover so I could be pregnant again.
