Hi, My Name Is Giselle.

Hi. I'm Giselle and I had a medication abortion in New York in 2010.

I found out I was pregnant when I was kidnapped by a boyfriend for 3 months and forced me to have sex every day to intentionally get me pregnant, and my first thought was, "Sad, upset.” I decided to have a medication abortion because it wasn’t a wanted pregnancy. That knowing after I got away, it was going to make me stuck to a man that was crazy. Because NY won’t protect you because fathers have equal rights to the children no matter the situation.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was easy, private, and quick. I took one of the pills at the clinic and a second at home, and I felt like a roller coaster of emotions but knowing that I had this option gave me hope to a future. What surprised me most was it was like a heavy period.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to get away from a man for ever with no attachment. I felt free, relieved that I still had options.

I'm sharing my story because no one should be obligated to have an unwanted attachment to a person that harms you, because parenthood itself is a lifetime commitment.

Medication abortion should always be an option to feel safe.
