Hi. I'm Kate and I had a medication abortion in New York in 2021.

I found out I was pregnant when my normally regular period was late, and my first thought was, "I can't have a baby right now.” I decided to have a medication abortion because it was the best choice for my family. We couldn't afford more kids.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was super easy. I made an appointment with my doctor and had my pills within a week. I took the pills at home, and I felt calm and grateful that I could do it somewhere I felt comfortable. What surprised me most was how simple the whole experience was. I didn't have much pain or cramping at all.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to take care of the child I already had. I felt so relieved. Years later, I'm still so relieved.

I'm sharing my story because people should know that it's safe and very common.

Medication abortion is so important and safe. We can't let politicians take this away from people who need it.
