Hi, My Name is Jess.
Hi. I'm Jess, and I had a medication abortion in Florida in 2019.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period and was having cramps, and my breasts felt sore, and my first thought was: FEAR. I decided to have a medication abortion because I did not want to have a child ever, and I was also in an abusive relationship with the father, and felt too young and unprepared for motherhood.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was private, respectful, and relieving. I took the pills at Planned Parenthood and my apartment, and I felt relief. What surprised me most was how much pain medicine I needed during and after.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have control over my own body and life. I felt freedom, relief, joy, and control.
I'm sharing my story because there is nothing to be ashamed of, and everyone should have the right to an abortion.
Medication abortion is a necessary aspect of reproductive healthcare.
