Hi, My Name Is Jessica.
Hi. I'm Jessica, and I had a medication abortion in Tennessee in 2024.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period and started having other symptoms, and my first thought was "Our home just burned down, how are we going to afford another kid, and where will we take them home to?" I decided to have a medication abortion because I am older, and I actually thought I was menopausal. My physical health would be at risk with another pregnancy, and I don’t have the money to add another child to my household; I already have 3.
I received my abortion pills through the mail.
From start to finish, the process was easy, relieving, but stressful at the thought of being alone if something went wrong. I took the pills at home, and I felt scared. What surprised me most was the empowerment I felt when it was done, knowing a group of men somewhere in DC had tried to take that option from me.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to get moved into a new home we bought and continue taking care of my kids. I felt relieved.
I'm sharing my story because access to abortion pills is important to all women, even if you think you’ll never need them.
Medication abortion is life-changing.
