Hi, My Name Is Joyce.
Hi. I'm Joyce and I had a medication abortion in Maryland in 2026.
I found out I was pregnant when I took a test at my school's clinic, and my first thought was, "this is the worst thing that could happen right now.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I was struggling with money and worked for a reproductive justice organization that supported me in accessing them for free. As well as I was past the abortion period in Georgia.
I received my abortion pills through an organization.
From start to finish, the process was easy, comforting, and freeing. I took the pills at a friend's apartment, and I felt scared, but not alarmed. What surprised me most was how quickly it worked.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to finish school and be happy. I felt liberated and empowered.
I’m sharing my story because access to abortion medication saved my life and I believe it can save other peoples’.
Medication abortion is safe, normal, and like any other medication process.
