Hi, My Name Is Mel.

Hi. I'm Mel and I had a medication abortion in Florida in 2026.

I found out I was pregnant when I missed my cycle, and my first thought was, "I’m high risk and was advised not to get pregnant and I had an IUD placed.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I did not want to risk my life.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was private, comfortable, and supported. I took the pills at home , and I felt relaxed, fine, and comfortable. What surprised me most was the fact that I was well informed of what would happen and was prepaid for pain, if anything were to happen the clinic was open to assisting 24 hours. I felt as a normal cycle.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to stay alive. I felt relief, my health and nerves were starting to settle.

I'm sharing my story because I believe this is a very important situation that is NEEDED for women in any case. For me my health is at risk although I have attempted to prevent this with an IUD and or birth control still the possibility of this effecting someone in my case my health and I have children already who need me.

Medication abortion should be accessible to women in need of the services.
