Hi, My Name Is Kya.

Hi. I'm Kya and I had a medication abortion in Florida in 2022.

I found out I was pregnant when I was experiencing pregnancy symptoms because I know my body. I was throwing up at work and confirmed it after leaving early, and my first thought was, “Oh hell no, absolutely not.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I could not afford to give another child the life they deserved at the time. I already had one child. I was on the pill but clearly it did not work for me.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was clearly explained & I knew exactly what to expect after multiple consultations. I took the pills at the clinic and then the second one at home, and I felt nervous but ready to move past the experience already. I felt I was truly doing what was best for me & my family. To this day, I have zero regrets about it. I honor the soul everyday & feel at peace. What surprised me most was how quick it was over and done with for me physically. I didn’t expect to be okay for awhile but I was working the next day.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to continue to give my child the life he deserves, save money, buy a house, and choose to have a second child in 2024 when I was financially, physically, and emotionally ready. I felt so much relief when it was over. Choosing to carry at the time could have ruined my life, that child’s, and my family’s financially. I’m confident in my decision and grateful I had the choice at the time.

I'm sharing my story because I’ve never told it. Nobody knows even though I am outspoken for abortion rights. It’s not because I’m ashamed, it’s because it’s very private & nobody’s business. I’ve had friends who have been through it and sometimes I regret not sharing my story with them so here I am.

Medication abortion life saving medical care for everyone, not just women.
