Hi, My Name Is Leanne.
Hi. I'm Leanna, and I had a medication abortion in New York in 2013.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period and took a test, and my first thought was: "I'm going to get an abortion." I decided to have a medication abortion because I didn't want to have a baby with that person right then in my life or ever. I didn't think I wanted mixed-race children. I didn't know if I could guide them through the challenges of being mixed with white and Chinese cultures.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was safe, private, and simple. I took the pills at my apartment, and I felt relieved. What surprised me most was how much other people make this into a big deal.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have a husband and a 2-year-old son today. I felt relief.
I'm sharing my story because everyone should be able to make their own choices for their body and their life.
Medication abortion is life-saving healthcare.
