Hi, My Name Is Eileen.
Hi. I'm Eileen, and I had a medication abortion in NJ in 2024.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period, and my first thought was: "Not right now." I decided to have a medication abortion because I was in medical school at the time and knew I couldn’t afford a child and continue my education.
I received my abortion pills through telehealth.
From start to finish, the process was private, simple, and the right choice. I took the pills at home, and I felt sadness for the loss of potential, but confident in my choice. What surprised me most was how quickly I returned to feeling normal.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to finish medical school and become an OB/Gyn who pays it forward, the opportunity I had, as well as a mother who was able to financially and emotionally support her children. I felt control and relief.
I'm sharing my story because I wouldn’t be where I am today without my abortion, and I believe everyone should have access to the same opportunities I did.
Medication abortion allows women and girls to reach their full potential by controlling when they have children.
