Hi, My Name Is Lovely.

Hi. I'm Lovely and I had a medication abortion in New Mexico in 2019.

I found out I was pregnant when my period was late, and my first thought was, "No no no no no.” I decided to have a medication abortion because it was safe and private.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was emotionally challenging, but logistically supportive. I took the pills at home, and I felt assured, able to grieve the moment, and also give myself what I needed to be comfortable. What surprised me most was how comforting it was to be able to do it at home.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to take care of myself and time things most optimally for my other healthcare considerations. I felt so relieved.

I’m sharing my story because every story matters. This is never anything any of us want to do, but safe access makes me grateful for all the efforts of activists and healthcare providers that fight for access to safe healthcare.

Medication abortion is healthcare, is safe, is necessary, and is supportive.
