Hi, My Name Is Renee.
Hi. I'm Renee and I had a medication abortion in Georgia in 2023.
I found out I was pregnant when I took an at-home pregnancy test, and my first thought was, "I can't do this again.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I was still emotionally/physically recovering from an ectopic pregnancy I suffered in January of that year. The pain, the blood, the vaginal ultrasounds over and over. The heartbeat bill in my state had just been upheld in court, however doctors didn't know how to legally proceed, and it took two months to resolve. I suffered for two months and was terrified to go through that again.
I received my abortion pills through a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was gentle, compassionate, comforting. I took the pills at home, and I felt relief. What surprised me most was there was almost no pain, literally just mild cramping.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to heal. I felt peace.
I'm sharing my story because abortion should be normalized.
Medication abortion saves lives.
