Hi. I'm Meg and I had a medication abortion in Colorado in 2017, 2018, and 2021.

I found out I was pregnant when I took a test with my husband, and my first thought was being SO thrilled to be adding to our family. I decided to have a medication abortion because my babies had all stopped growing between 6-10 weeks. What started as a normal pregnancy ended with a doctors appointment to discuss options on removal. Devastating. But it is mine (and every other individual woman’s) choice to decide how to remove a fetus from their body when/if they and/or their medical team deem it necessary. POLITICS DON’T BELONG IN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was quick and easy to understand. And while my heart was broken by our loss I felt empowered by getting to make decisions about my own body and future pregnancies. I took the pills at home, and I felt sad but relieved to be moving forward. What surprised me most was how quick it worked, and how crazy it is that my medically necessary medication is deemed an abortion.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to ensure my body was alright after pregnancy loss and start the healing process. I felt in control of my own body and life.

I'm sharing my story because other women deserve to have access to this medication when they need/want it.

Medication abortion is necessary and saves the lives of mothers.
