Hi, My Name Is Melissa.
Hi. I'm Melissa and I had a medication abortion in Michigan in 1996.
I found out I was pregnant when there was no protection used, and my first thought was, "I don’t want someone’s baby who raped me.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I was gang raped.
I received my abortion pills through a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was in my control. I took the pills at the hospital, and I felt relieved. What surprised me most was how relieved and less stressed it made me so I could focus on my physical and mental health.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to not worry and continue work and school. I felt in control. I'm sharing my story because I want all women to have access and a choice if they ever find themselves in this position.
Medication abortion is safe.
