Hi, My Name Is Molly.
Hi. I'm Molly, and I had a medication abortion in Colorado in 2008.
I found out I was pregnant when my period was late, and my first thought was: "SHIT." I decided to have a medication abortion because I was halfway through my 3-year master’s program, did not want my career to be delayed or waylaid altogether, I had no money, and an untrustworthy partner I was close to leaving.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was smooth, easy, and well explained. I took the pills at my friend’s house, and I felt cramping, bleeding, and intense relief that it was working correctly. What surprised me most was that it really wasn’t a big deal at all for me.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to finish my master’s, leave my boyfriend, and create the life I really wanted. I felt tremendous relief to have control over my future, and I now have a young kid who was absolutely wanted and is getting the best of me as a parent.
I'm sharing my story because all people should have access to the same degree of self-determination and healthcare.
Medication abortion is amazing, safe, predictable, well-studied, and absolutely life-saving.
