Hi, My Name Is Morgan.

Hi. I'm Morgan and I had a medication abortion in Iowa in 2012.

I found out I was pregnant when I started having the telltale signs that had been present when I was pregnant with my children, and my first thought was, “We cannot do this right now. We cannot afford another child right now.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I did not want to have another child. I did not want to go through pregnancy again. And because I had done everything I was supposed to to prevent an unwanted child and it happened anyway.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was respectful, convenient, and accessible. I took the pills at home, and I felt relieved and grateful that I had access to this process. What surprised me most was it wasn't any more intense than a heavy period.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to continue living my life on my terms and provide a more stable life for the children I already had. I felt relieved.

I'm sharing my story because people should know it isn't just single women wanting an “easy out” that are having abortions. I'm happily married with two children and didn't want to have any more kids.

Medication abortion is normal, discreet, reliable, and should be available for women regardless of circumstance.
