Hi, My Name Is Turtle.
Hi. I'm Turtle and I had a medication abortion in Washington in 2014.
I found out I was pregnant when I felt nauseous at work, and my first thought was, "SHIT, not now!” I decided to have a medication abortion because it wasn't time for me to start a family, and I had the access I needed to reproductive healthcare I needed.
I received my abortion pills through a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was empowering, easy to navigate, and accessible. I took the pills at home, and I felt relieved. What surprised me most was the fact that the experience could be emotional AND relieving at the same time.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to make the choices that were right for my life and my health when I needed and wanted to. I felt that I was in control of my life and future.
I’m sharing my story because everyone should have access to abortion, which is reproductive health, which is normal healthcare.
Medication abortion kept me a sane person and allowed me to continue to save and service lives into my future.
