Hi, My Name Is Marisa.
Hi. I'm Marisa, and I had a medication abortion in Washington in 2023.
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period, and my first thought was: "Holy shit, I’m scared but excited." I decided to have a medication abortion because I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage.
I received my abortion pills at a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was easy, private, and relieving. I took the pills at home, and I felt cramping, nausea, and sadness. What surprised me most was how quickly the pregnancy passed.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to evacuate my uterus of a non-viable pregnancy and move on emotionally. I felt relief.
I'm sharing my story because I believe every person who is able to become pregnant should have the right to choose.
Medication abortion saves lives.
