Hi, My Name Is Aurora.

Hi. I'm Aurora and I had a medication abortion in California in 2025.

I found out I was pregnant when my period was late, and my first thought was, “What am I going to do?” I decided to have a medication abortion because I knew I needed to graduate high school and go to college. I was on birth control and it failed. I was scared and knew that, despite how badly I wanted to be a mom, I couldn’t have a baby my senior year of high school.

I received my abortion pills through the mail.

From start to finish, the process was easy, relieving, powerful. I took the pills at my boyfriend’s house, and I felt anxious. What surprised me most was how overwhelmingly guilty I felt.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to graduate high school and go to college! I felt free and in control of my future again.

I'm sharing my story because the abortion saved my life. I needed to be successful before I became a mother and I knew if I didn’t do that, I would feel like a failure.

Medication abortion is life-saving and should be protected.
