Hi. I'm Brittany and I had a medication abortion in Virginia in 2006.

I found out I was pregnant when my husband beat me and I had to go to the hospital, and my first thought was, "I need to escape this marriage before he kills me.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I would have been legally forced to keep contact with a man who wanted me dead if we had a child together. He would kill the child to hurt me.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was heartbreaking. I took the pills at the clinic, and I felt sad. What surprised me most was there were no protestors outside trying to hurt me.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to have the amazing children I have today. I felt peace.
