Hi, My Name Is Jack.
Hi. I'm Jack and I had a medication abortion in Florida in 2011.
I found out I was pregnant when I took 3 tests, and my first thought was, "I'm fucked. How do I get an abortion?” I decided to have a medication abortion because I was uncomfortable going to a "women's" clinic as a trans person and felt it would be more manageable for me to be in the privacy of my own home.
I received my abortion pills through a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was the best decision for me. I took the pills at home, and I felt sick immediately. But also somehow comforting. What surprised me most was how my relationship with my body changed.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to finish college, move across country, and have the life I wanted. I felt safe and free.
I'm sharing my story because trans people need abortion access too and it's important for other trans folks to know it's perfectly typical healthcare.
Medication abortion is SAFE and lets you have agency over your own body.
