Hi, My Name Is Jennifer.

Hi. I'm Jennifer and I had a medication abortion in Maine in 2004.

I found out I was pregnant when I missed my first period, and my first thought was, "I cannot have a baby at 17.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I was 17 and the father was controlling and had gotten someone else pregnant a month earlier.

I received my abortion pills through an organization.

From start to finish, the process was easy, private, and safe. I took the pills at home with my parents, and I felt like I would survive the abortion but not pregnancy and being a mother at 17 and 18. What surprised me most was how fast it was.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to go to college, move out of my hometown, and start a family at 32. I felt relief.

I’m sharing my story because I want all pregnant people to know that medical abortions are safe and have been for many, many years.

Medication abortion life-changing.
