Hi, My Name Is M.
Hi. I'm M and I had a medication abortion in New York in 2025.
I found out I was pregnant when I took an at-home pregnancy test, and my first thought was excited because it was our first month trying to get pregnant. I decided to have a medication abortion because there was no heartbeat at my 3rd appointment when I was almost 12 weeks pregnant.
I received my abortion pills through a clinic.
From start to finish, the process was easy to navigate. I took the pills at home, and I felt extremely nauseous and crampy. What surprised me most was how bad the cramps were.
Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to remove dead tissue from my body that could possibly cause sepsis. I felt relieved to not have to wait for a risk to my life to have the tissue removed.
Iām sharing my story because at 12 weeks, many red states would have denied me the ability to remove the embryo on my own terms after it died. The thought of carrying it until there was a risk to my life makes me sick.
Medication abortion saves lives.
