Hi. I'm MC and I had a medication abortion in New York in 2022.

I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period, and my first thought was, "Fuck no.” I decided to have a medication abortion because I do not want children. I want to live my life the way that the women in my life didn’t get to. I am too young and have too many dreams to fulfill.

I received my abortion pills through a clinic.

From start to finish, the process was easy, mine, lonely. I took the pills at home in my bed, and I felt relieved. What surprised me most was how easy it was and how much stigma there is around it.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to make choices that were right for me. I felt freedom, relief, grateful.

I'm sharing my story because women’s bodies shouldn’t be policed, especially by people that don’t experience pregnancy or menstruation.

Medication abortion means freedom.
