Hi, My Name Is Sheila.

Hi. I'm Sheila, and I had a medication abortion in California in 2013.

I found out I was pregnant when I woke up with sore breasts, and my first thought was: "Fuck!" I decided to have a medication abortion because I knew, as a single mother, I would not be able to provide the life to a child that they deserved.

I received my abortion pills from an organization.

From start to finish, the process was comforting, empowering, and necessary. I took the pills at Planned Parenthood and then at home, and I felt embarrassed for letting it happen. What surprised me most was that it felt just like a period.

Because I had access to medication abortion, I was able to move forward from an unhealthy relationship. I felt relieved.

I'm sharing my story because women should have access to this drug and be able to make choices about their own bodies.

Medication abortion is safe and necessary.
